  • Payment Mode: Candidates can pay the fee using a Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking.

Age Limit (As on 01.04.2026)

  • Base Age Limit: 20 to 28 Years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.04.1998 and not later than 01.04.2006 (both days inclusive).

  • Age Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen (XS) & Disabled Ex-Servicemen (DXS): Candidates receive relaxation equal to the actual period of service rendered in defense services plus 3 years.

  • Age Relaxation for SC/ST Disabled Ex-Servicemen: Candidates receive relaxation equal to the actual period of service rendered in defense services plus 8 years.

  • Maximum Age Cap: For all Ex-Servicemen categories, the upper age limit after relaxations is capped at a maximum of 50 years.

ESM Vacancy Details

SBI provides a robust 14.50% horizontal reservation for defense veterans. This is divided into 10% for Ex-Servicemen (XS) and 4.5% for Disabled Ex-Servicemen and dependents of Servicemen killed in action (DXS).

Note: Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/UT only. There is no provision for Inter-Circle or Inter-State transfer before completing 5 years of service.

Educational Qualification for Ex-Servicemen (As on 31.12.2026)

Veterans must meet one of the following academic criteria:

  • Standard Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

  • Special ESM Qualification: Matriculate Ex-servicemen who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education.

  • Navy/Air Force Equivalent: Matriculate Ex-servicemen with a corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force are also eligible.

  • Service Requirement for Special Qualification: To utilize the special education certificate, the candidate must have completed not less than 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union.

  • Certificate Validity: The educational certificate must be dated on or before 31.12.2026.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Junior Associates post is divided into distinct phases:

  1. Phase I – Preliminary Exam: An online objective test for 100 marks with a 1-hour duration. It includes English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability.

  2. Phase II – Main Exam: An online objective test for 200 marks with a duration of 2 Hours 40 minutes.

    • Special Benefit: Ex-Servicemen (XS) and Disabled Ex-Servicemen (DXS) candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation on the minimum aggregate qualifying marks.

  3. Phase III – Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): Candidates who cannot produce a 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/certificate evidencing that they studied the specified opted local language must undergo and qualify in this language test before joining.

  4. Document Verification: Thorough verification of discharge books, educational certificates, and identity proofs.
