Introduction

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) invites applications from eligible candidates for the positions of Multi-Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) and Havaldar (in CBIC and CBN). This recruitment drive aims to fill a significant number of vacancies across various ministries, departments, offices of the Government of India, and other statutory bodies. Reservation

Reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Ex-Servicemen (ESM), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) will be provided as per the extant government orders. The SSC ensures that the selection of candidates aligns with the vacancies reported by the user departments, while the implementation of the reservation policy remains the responsibility of these departments.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality/Citizenship:

A candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates from categories (b), (c), and (d) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit (As on 01-08-2024)

  • For MTS: 18-25 years (i.e., candidates born not before 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2006).
  • For Havaldar in CBIC and CBN: 18-27 years (i.e., candidates born not before 02-08-1997 and not later than 01-08-2006).

Permissible Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date of receipt of online applications.
  • Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof: 3 years (8 years for SC/ST).
  • Central Government Civilian Employees: Up to 40 years (45 years for SC/ST) for those who have rendered not less than 3 years of regular and continuous service.
  • Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated and not remarried: Up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST).

The date of birth filled in the online application form must match the one in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate.

Ex-Servicemen Criteria

Ex-Servicemen who have already secured employment in civil services under the Government in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ posts on a regular basis after availing of the benefits of reservation given to Ex-Servicemen for their re-employment are not eligible for reservation in the ESM category and fee concession. However, they can avail of the benefit of reservation as Ex-Servicemen for subsequent employment if they provide a self-declaration/undertaking about their application details for various vacancies before joining their initial civil employment.

The period of “Call up Service” in the Armed Forces is also considered for age relaxation. Ex-Servicemen must have acquired the status of ex-servicemen at the time of submitting their application or must be able to establish their entitlement by documentary evidence within one year from the closing date of receipt of applications.

Selection Process

The selection process will include a competitive examination comprising of Computer Based Examination (CBE) scheduled between October and November 2024. The examination will test candidates on various parameters to ensure their suitability for the respective positions.
