The BSc (Nursing) Course – 2025 under the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) presents a prestigious opportunity for female candidates aspiring to serve in the Military Nursing Service (MNS) of the Indian Army. This four-year program, commencing in 2025, is designed to train and commission nurses to provide exceptional healthcare services within the armed forces. Below is a comprehensive overview based on the official notification.
Overview
The Indian Army has invited applications from eligible female candidates who have qualified the NEET (UG) 2025 examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The course will be offered at various Colleges of Nursing under AFMS, with a total of 220 seats available across six institutions. Admission is based on a merit-cum-choice system, incorporating NEET (UG) 2025 scores, a Computer Based Test (CBT) of General Intelligence and General English (ToGIGE), Psychological Assessment, and an Interview, subject to medical fitness and seat availability.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the BSc (Nursing) Course – 2025, candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Gender and Marital Status: Only unmarried, divorced, legally separated, or widowed female candidates without encumbrances are eligible.
- Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of India.
- Age Limit: Candidates should be born between October 1, 2000, and September 30, 2008 (both dates inclusive).
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent in their first attempt, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology), and English, achieving at least 50% aggregate marks as a regular student from a recognized board or university.
- Physical Standards: The minimum height requirement is 152 cm, with a relaxation to 147 cm for candidates from Hill and North Eastern States. An additional 2 cm growth allowance applies for candidates below 18 years at the time of examination. Weight standards are determined using the Weight for Height Chart for Females, as per the O/o DGAFMS/DG-3A letter dated July 23, 2024.
- Special Categories: SC/ST candidates must possess a certificate from a competent authority (not below the rank of 1st Class Magistrate/Tehsildar/Sub Divisional Officer). NCC ‘C’ certificate holders are required to upload their certificates during application.
Medical fitness will be assessed by a Special Medical Board (SMB) based on standards prescribed for MNS entry, ensuring candidates meet the physical demands of the role.
Screening Process
The selection process is rigorous and multi-staged:
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on NEET (UG) 2025 scores, with reference numbers published on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Shortlisted candidates must attend the screening at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt (BHDC), with admit cards downloadable from the website.
- Document Verification: Original documents listed in the admit card must be presented. Candidates without originals must provide a receipt from the institution holding them, along with an undertaking to submit originals at admission.
- Test of General Intelligence & General English (ToGIGE): This CBT comprises 40 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each worth 2 marks (total 80 marks), to be completed in 30 minutes. A negative marking of 0.5 applies for incorrect answers.
- Psychological Assessment and Interview: Conducted by a board of officers, this assesses candidates on core subjects up to Std XII, General Knowledge, current affairs, interests, and hobbies. Additional weightage is given for sports achievements and for dependents of serving/ex-servicemen or those killed in action.
- Medical Examination: A Special Medical Board (SMB) at BHDC evaluates fitness. Candidates declared unfit may appeal within 24 hours by paying Rs 40/- for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB), but must remain present until the medical status is declared.
Final Selection and Seat Allocation
The final selection hinges on a combined merit of NEET (UG) 2025 scores, ToGIGE performance, Psychological Assessment, and Interview, subject to medical fitness. A merit list will be published on the JIA website, and colleges will be allocated based on merit-cum-choice, subject to availability. The seat distribution for 2025 is as follows:
- College of Nursing (CoN), AFMC Pune (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences): 40 seats
- CoN, CH (EC) Kolkata (West Bengal University of Health Sciences): 30 seats

Admission and Commitment
Selected candidates must execute an Agreement/Bond to serve as MNS officers in AFMS. During training, they receive free ration, accommodation, uniform allowance, and a monthly stipend as per amended rules. Withdrawal after 7 days of admission (post-4 PM) or refusal to accept a commission incurs bond money liability proportional to training duration.
